In recent years, the debate on the teaching of recent history in Brazil has gained prominence, especially in the face of the emergence of extreme right-wing movements that advocate ideas of a return to the military dictatorship. The understanding of recent history influences political culture, which is demonstrated in this study with young Brazilians, who presented varying views on military governments. Although there is a general tendency to be neutral towards the military dictatorship, there is a slight inclination towards favorable views, although less pronounced than in other Latin American countries. Statistical analysis included the use of a Likert scale and the creation of an index of support for the military dictatorship, which shows a slight predominance of support, but with equal groups between rejection, indifference and support for the narratives of the dictatorship.
