This article aims to analyze part of the trajectory, more specifically, the school education of a student who becomes a teacher. Daughter of an Italian immigrant, Botyra Camorim lived and studied in the working-class neighborhood of Brás, in São Paulo, in the first two decades of the 20th century. On the one hand, the purpose is to understand, through a human background,
of a specific route, the organization of the paulista educational system inside a school republican ideal model during the first decades of the 20th. century. On the other
hand, it is wanted to highlight the challenges found by that same individual to follow the ways that are imposed on his or her life. As a result, it is observed that the myth of
school success as a synonym of good grades on a report does not have any kind of direct correspondence with the teacher career choice. That is, not all those who want to be
a teacher had a school trajectory considered successful.
