The article focuses the public history project “Dictatorship in Prose”. It analyzes the challenges of teaching the his-tory of the civil-military dictatorship in the high school of the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Suckow da Fonseca (CEFET-RJ), debating its school culture and the way the debates of public history and education help didactics of history. Through the action research methodology, we understand the trajectory of the educational experience developed since 2017, through volunteers and scholarship holders in scientific initiation and extension of CEFET-RJ, which resulted in the construction of an educational profile of content production on the Instagram social network
