The Place of History Teaching in History Degrees in Brazil: Knowledge, Reflections and Challenges

Abstract

The article analyzes which knowledges are mobilized in the compulsory subjects specifically dedicated to the Teaching of History in 27 Political Pedagogical Projects through 83 curricular components. As a methodology, we use the quantitative procedures by which we cataloged how many and which subjects compose the sample, its workload and distribution in the curricular arrangements. Then we preceded with the qualitative analysis, questioning which knowledges are indicated in the disciplines. The analysis shows that even though there are a variety of forms, meanings and knowledges about the teaching of History, it is presented fundamentally as being a “question of methodology”.
