In this article, we reflect on the relationship
between History Teaching and Deaf
Education, in an attempt to map the
state of the art. Through a literature review
study, we consulted the Catálogo de
Teses e Dissertações da CAPES, the Biblioteca
Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações
and the Google Scholar, platforms
for searching scientific works with
open access. In each database, we
crossed the descriptors “teaching”, “history”
and “deafness” or “deaf” using the
Boolean operator “AND”. Thus, we
identified eleven (11) dissertations
whose focus was on the History Teaching
and Deaf Studies. The texts were
classified into three categories that, in
general, showed difficulties related to the
initial and continuing teacher training,
as well as the lack of knowledge about
deaf culture for an inclusive teaching of
History.
